Dental Benefits help plan members pay for the cost of eligible dental procedures performed by a licensed dental professional. There are many coverage options available and your organization may specify coverage percentages and/or apply a fixed dollar amount per year for Dental Benefits.
Basic Coverage may include:
- Ongoing care and maintenance of teeth, roots and gums
- Diagnostic services - exams, radiographs, X-rays and tests
- Preventative treatment - polishing, scaling, oral hygiene instruction, pit and fissure sealants, and space maintainers
- Minor restorations - fillings, prefabricated crowns for primary teeth, and other services completed in conjunction with minor restorations
Basic Coverage with Endodontics and Periodontics may include:
- Ongoing care and maintenance of teeth, roots and gums
- Diagnostic services - exams, radiographs, X-rays and tests

- Minor restorations - fillings, prefabricated crowns for primary teeth, and other services completed in conjunction with minor restorations
- Endodontics - root canal therapy
- Periodontics - prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases affecting the gums and supporting structures of the teeth and the planning, placement, and maintenance of dental implants
- Oral surgery - correcting problems or damage to the mouth, teeth and jaw
- Adjunctive services - anesthesia, medications and pain relief
Caps, Crowns, Bridges, Dentures may include:
- Crowns
- Onlays
- Bridges
- Dentures
- Related items such as posts, pins and denture-related surgery
- Replacements when the existing appliance is five or more years old
- Fixed or removable prostheses
- Appliance maintenance - denture relines and rebases, denture or bridgework repair
Orthodontia may include:
- Orthodontic exams
- X-rays
- Diagnostic radiographs
- Casts
- Braces
- Retainers
